Roam with kids!

When Renata from Roam (with kids!) approached Mauka Creative, she had a clear vision in mind: a brand that was not only playful and fun but also resonated with families searching for child-friendly spots. Her new app aimed to be the go-to resource for families looking to explore and enjoy activities together, and the brand needed to reflect that mission across every touchpoint.
Renata’s primary goal was to create a brand identity that could seamlessly translate across both digital and print. With an app at the core of Roam, the brand also needed to have a strong social media presence and be instantly recognisable to its users. This required a cohesive design that worked just as well on a mobile screen as it did on printed materials like flyers and signage.
Drawing inspiration from a bold 90s design aesthetic, we set out to craft a brand identity that would capture the playful essence Renata exudes. The logo became the focal point, with the "R" ingeniously inspired by a slide—symbolising the fun and adventure families would find using the Roam app. The logotype itself was hand-drawn to give it a unique and personal touch, setting the tone for the entire brand.
We developed a brand pattern and illustrations that were applied consistently across all digital and printed touchpoints. Whether users were interacting with the app, receiving a thank you card, or scrolling socials, they were met with the same vibrant and playful identity. The UI design played a crucial role here, ensuring that the branding was consistent throughout the app, enhancing user experience, and boosting brand recognition that had been carefully built up on social media.
